Borgo Il Melone is a grand 19th-century manor house, a 5-minute drive from Cortona. Set in the Tuscan countryside, its grounds include a swimming pool with hot tub and poolside bar. All accommodation includes satellite TV and Wi-Fi access. Some have a fully equipped kitchen with tea and coffee-making facilities. Staff at the Melone organise cookery and pottery classes, as well as rafting, horse riding and boat trips on Lake Trasimeno. The buffet breakfast features freshly baked cakes, and can be enjoyed in the garden. The restaurant, serving gourmet Italian cuisine, hosts weekly concerts and wine tastings. Cortona is a city of art, history and spiritualityalso offering an enchanting view of the landscape enclosed by Lake Trasimeno and the Appenines.

The Museum of the Etruscan Academy is housed at the noble floor of the historic Palazzo Casali, erected in the 13th century, later turned to official residence of the family that ruled the Signoria of Cortona (1325-1409) and, then in 1411, adapted to be the seat of Florentine captains and commissaries.

The area stretching from Valdichiana to the Casentino area until the town of Cortona is the location of the Terre di Arezzo wine route. This area has always been characterized by a large production of different types of wines, many of which receive DOC, DOCG and IGT certifications every year.

Among the grapevines that are picked and distilled in this area are: Chianti, Chianti Colli Aretini, Colli Etruria Centrale, Valdichiana, Cortona and Vinsanto del Chianti.

Red, white and dessert wines are produced and bottled in the wine territories around Arezzo. They are mostly noble wines, with a medium alcoholic content, and can be drunk young or preserved in time.

Please note that the restaurant will be closed from Christmas until New Year Day.

Final cleaning is compulsory for weekly apartment stays and costs EUR 80. Daily cleaning is available at an additional cost.

The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. The swimming pool is open from mid May until the end of September.
