In addition to the better known Tuscan cities, such as Florence, Pisa, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia and Assisi, there are many smaller towns and places which are well worth a visit and which can be easily reached by car from Le Terre dei Cavalieri. These include:

Cortona - This town is the summer centre of antiques fairs, well known for its magnificent painting of Beato Angelico and its famous Etruhian Museum.

Pienza - Founded by Pope Pio II and realised by Piccolomini, this is the city “born from a love of thought and a dream of beauty”, a jewel in Renaissance Art. Pienza is also well known for its typical food shops, full of Tuscan specialities.

Other beautiful places to visit include: San Quirico d’Orcia, with its marvellous 13th-century Roman Collegiate Church and the 16th-century Horti Leonini; Sant’Antimo, with its charming Abbey, founded by Carlo Magno; Montalcino, kingdom of Brunello wine; Banfi Castle, ancient fortress on the way to the sea, recently restored and now museum of the most refined glass-making techniques for wine bottling.

Suite (2 People) (2+0) La Colombaia suite has been converted from the old dove-tower, a shelter where doves were bred. The suite consists of one bedroom, one studio with exit to the loggia and one bathroom with shower. Le Grate suite was named after the grating adorning its windows. The suite features two independent entrances (one from the garden and one from the main entrance of the Villa). Suite (4 Pax) (4+0) Il Chiarone: The apartment tokes its name from the reflection of the moon on the old marshland. It is accessed by means of the old original stone stairway of the farmhouse and consists of 2 independent bedrooms with private bathroom. La Bruna: With a Queen-size bed, a view over the surrounding mountains and a nice mezzanine accommodating a comfortable single bed. La Devota: This room features 3 arches, one of which tops a small, original window. The bathroom features a jacuzzi shower-sauna.
